Terms of Service

By creating an account, using Guest Mode, or otherwise accessing Chessorix ("Chessorix," "we," "us"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Chessorix.

Chessorix is intended for use by individuals who are at least 18 years of age. By creating an account or using Guest Mode, you represent and warrant that you are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly permit anyone under 18 to register or play, and we reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account we believe belongs to someone under 18.

If you become aware that a Chessorix account belongs to someone under 18, please contact us at amogh@chessorix.com.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must provide accurate information when registering and keep it up to date.

You may also use Chessorix without an account via Guest Mode. Guest sessions are not saved, are not rated, and do not persist between visits.

You agree not to: harass, threaten, or abuse other players; use Chessorix to transmit unlawful, hateful, or sexually explicit content; attempt to cheat, including with chess engines or other assistance during rated games; attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to Chessorix's systems; impersonate another person; or use Chessorix for any purpose that violates applicable law.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules, at our discretion, with or without notice.

Chessorix's video chess feature uses WebRTC to connect you directly, peer-to-peer, with your opponent. Your camera and microphone are optional. When enabled, video and audio stream directly between you and your opponent and are not recorded, stored, or routed through our servers. See our Privacy Policy for details.

You agree not to record, capture, or distribute another player's video or audio without their consent, and not to use your camera to display unlawful, harassing, or sexually explicit content.

Chessorix uses an ELO-based rating system to reflect your competitive skill in ranked games. Ratings are calculated automatically based on game outcomes and are provided for informational and matchmaking purposes; we make no guarantee of their precision or comparability to ratings on other platforms.

Games played against the computer opponent, and games played as a guest, are not rated and do not affect your ELO.

Chessorix's branding, design, and software are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Chess itself, its rules, notation, and openings, is not owned by anyone and nothing here restricts your use of the game.

Chessorix is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. Video quality depends on your device, network, and browser, and is outside our control.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Chessorix and its founder will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of Chessorix after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date above.
